In the summer of 2008 a group of women from North America and Europe, moved by Feminenza's mission, all with a love of music, poetry and song writing, found themselves impelled to produce new music together. Many of these woman had put aside their creative endeavors as family and work took up their lives. Inspired to offer the healing balm of music and lyrics into the world, Thalia's Whisper was born.
It was breathtaking music - rare and essenced, music to satiate the hunger of the soul, to heal loneliness, to nourish and expand perception.
To this passionate arising of the feminine spirit, Aud Wilken offered up the name 'Thalia's Whisper'. The name Thalia, ancient Greek in origin, belongs to one of the three Graces. The word itself means 'to bloom' or a 'rich banquet, festivity, and flourishing.'
In the spring of 2009, Thalia's Whisper participated in the 'Forgiveness Concerts', a Feminenza benefit in Europe to help fund urgently needed training and development for women to become Forgiveness and Reconcilliation counsellors in their own communities and in different regions of Africa currently gripped by conflict. The musical experience was rare, inspired, compelling, and unforgettable.
Plans are now underway to bring the Forgiveness Concerts to North America in the Fall of 2010.
